I can't say enough good things about this book. Once you have purchased your fly rod and reel this is THE book to have. Has a lot of good entomology drawings. Scott has a good sense of humor. Highly recommended.

I have read many books on flyfishing and I have found that Scott Richmond`s The Pocket Gillie is by far the best flyfishing primer I have seen. It is very well written. His chapter called Hard Times in a Bugs Life gives much insight into basic entomology to help one choose the correct pattern and presentation,which I think, is the essence of flyfishing. The book is economically written and fits in a fly vest pocket. I highly reccomend it.

Many of the issues up for discussion are simply based upon the age-old debate between, semi-Pelagianism and Augustinianism. However the contributers adroitly cut through the flesh and get at the heart of contemporary church issues. This debate is not over a matter of style.But rather it accurately raises the concern as to what constitutes true Christian religion. If some of the points that are raised are indeed correct, one would have to wonder if authentic Christian faith even exists within much of the current church milieu. These articles should not be treated lightly but rather with fear and trembling.

This is a fantastic book, covering clearly many aspects which challenge and threaten the church and the truth of the gospel.

I purchased this book as a second thought, and found out I got more than I bargained for. The level of expertise and experience with God impressed me initially, but it was the depth of each topic presented by each of the authors that shocked me. When dealing with God and spiritual subjects in books, there are so many approaches, and many that are really weird, but in this book the contributing authors do much to show by scriptures and experience the reality of the need for the church to be seeking God's power, holiness, and evangelistic outreach to the human race. This is not a book of testimonies alone, but scriptures and the reality of the topics listed in the title. Another book that assisted me in certain sections of this book was I Give You Authority by Charles Kraft. Though much different in subject, it assisted me in understanding some things that are occurring in the South American churches. I highly recommend this book for one's bookself, not only for reading, but as a text book for what is happening in Christianity today.

The chapters are written by individuals from various backgrounds who are sensing the Holy Spirit drawing them into a closer relationship with God. This purity of heart has been documented in past and present revivals around the world.

Of course, any of Fitzgerald's work edited by Mr. Bruccoli must be wonderful. These short stories, which appeared in various magazines from the 20s through the 40s are simply charming. Fitzgerald's elegant style of writing and sensuous story-telling techinque captivate the reader from the very first lines. Particularly appealing is Fitzgerld's use of humor - sometimes dry; sometimes understated - and well illustrated in the story, "The Pusher in the Face." Typical of early Fitzgerald, some of these stories end with an ironic twist of fate, such as the story, "Two for a Penny." Fitzgerald's themes are timeless and relevant to people living at the end of this century. These stories could have been written yesterday. If it is cold where you are, read these stories with a cup of hot cocoa by the fire; if warm, read them on your porch in the early evening with a pitcher of ice tea or lemonade.

Many American writers learn much about their craft by studying Fitzgerald. As Dorothy Parker said: Fitzgerald could write a bad story, but he couldn't write badly. Many of these stories, although unsuccessful by Fitzgerald's standards, are nonetheless instructive in their weakness: the strong parts stand out so clearly that they afford insights into what makes a given story truly work, and what makes one fall short. And: weak or not, there's beautiful writing in all of them. This collection is a treasure for Fitzgerald fans, and an important addition to a fiction writer's or writing student's bookshelf.

I teach a class for the University of California in their Web/IP Engineering program. I use this book as one of my texts because it's cross-platform and it has enough technical detail to really explain the complex art of optimizing a site. It's 1999 but the book is still relevant!

Any woman (or any man, for that matter) who has wrestled with the troubling intersections of individual spirit and received authority will find in these poems a wealth of comfort and wisdom, as well as shocking realization!

This book is destined to be a classic book that will be remembered long after it is out of print. It has great detail on individual low water use plants on how to grow them and care for them. If I could only have one book on low water use desert plants, this would be the book.

This is an excellent book on information about desert plants. Not much in the way of pictures, but heavy on information. I refer to it constantly when I need information about the desert plants in my yard or ones I'm buying. Has a grid on pruning times, flowering times, etc.

Drs. Rutan and Stone have long been actively involved in the forefront of teaching and conducting Group Psychotherapy. Their credentials, reputations and skills precede them. Yet, none of this guarantees a book which will serve the needs of its readers. With the earlier editions of this volume, readers were taken into the realm of Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy, in a clear, concise, and useful manner. Often when authors produce books such as this, later revisions are simply a reworking of the previous editions. Not so with this book. In fact, the authors pushed themselves to produce a volume which not only brings the material alive, but draws the reader directly into the process. In their latest edition, Rutan and Stone not only present well articulated clinical examples, but they also share with the reader, the therapist's thoughts that lead to the particular interventions. This takes the use of clinical examples from 2 to 3 dimensional, and allows the reader to more fully understand not only what was done in each situation, but why. The authors also update the book with currrent issues, such as the impact of managed care (although this is not a primary focus of the book). And, as before there is an abundance of information outlining and explaining the underlying theoretical principles which inform this model

As someone who has led, taught and supervised Group Psychotherapy for the past 15 years, I believe that this is one of the best books on this subject, available today. While it is not a general book aimed at providing an overview of Group Psychotherapy, or an overview of various models of Group Psychotherapy, it does translate the authors' clinical insight and experience into a format from which others can learn and grow. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about the theory and practice of Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy.

Drs. Rutan and Stone expand their wonderful and scholarly text, Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy. All readers, scholars and anyone interested in group psychotherapy will have the opportunity of greatly increasing their personal and professional knowledge while reading the work(s) of these two senior and erudite clinicians. I am obviously a fan of their efforts and have used their books over these many years to not only increase my own understanding of psychodynamic groups but also to inspire the knowledge of my students which their books have profoundly accomplished.

Often it seems that even well written fictional accounts do not get my blood racing and my stomach flipping, but Chic Scott has managed to do this in Pushing the Limits. Through this book I have gained a real sense of the mental make-up necessary to being a serious mountaineer. This book is as enjoyable a read as I've come across in recent years.

This book is a joy to read and a "must have" as a reference book that tells you all you would like to know and more about the history of mountaineering in Canada. Beautifully published with many pictures of the "greats and near greats" of the Canadian mountaineering scene since it all began in the mid 1800's. Chic Scott has produced a book that has already become a classic in mountain literature.
